Program Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

Students are expected to be able to:

  • demonstrate deep knowledge  of the different methodologies of all fields of geography and its relation with other disciplines especially in humanities.
  • Assess the role of the Arab and Muslim  geographers in the development of geography as a discipline
  • Analyze the effect of nature, economy and human factors on the geography of Palestine.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the economic and challenges that resulted from the practices of the Israeli occupation of Palestine.
  • analyze the strong correlation and reaction between the Earth and the Solar System throughout millions of years
  • link between the earth structure and geological history with the mineral and economic wealth of the world
  • Analyze the relationship between the humankind and the environment and its affect on the development of human civilizations.
  • find the relationship between historical events and geography and the relationship between politics and geography.
  • analyze the factors that lead to  the establishment of  international economic bodies and its influence on the North-South relations
  • Demonstrate knowledge of historical primary sources and other scientific sources that is related to historical events.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of different historical narratives of all periods
  • Demonstrate knowledge of different historical research methodologies and its implementations
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the theories that explain historical changes
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the most important events in modern and contemporary Arab and world history
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of all narratives related to the Palestinian history.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the Zionist ideology and its influence on the different historical  narratives
  • Demonstrate awareness of the relationship between Palestinian history and the elements of Palestinian identity

 

Skills (Intellectual and Practical)

Intellectual

Students are expected to be able to:

  • interpret different forms of graphs and diagrams using Geographical Information
    System (GIS)
  • Use problem solving, critical thinking and high order thinking skills to interpret the contemporary issues
  • write critique reports about historical monuments, archives’ libraries and museum trips

 

Practical

  • read and interpret different forms of graphs and diagrams using Geographical Information
    System (GIS)
  • Use problem solving, critical thinking and high order thinking skills to read and interpret geographic and historical texts
  • prepare for and write critical  reports about historical and archeological sites, archives’ libraries and museum trips
  • access to different types of primary sources
  • use the different resource methodologies to write research papers, draw an analyze historical maps and graphs
  • analyze and criticize the historical and geographic literature that are influenced by Zionist and Orientalist views.

 

Attitude

Students are expected to be able to:

  • show interest in his/her country issues, seeking for solutions
  • Respect freedom and pluralistic values
  • respect human equality regardless of differences in religion, race, gender and class

develop positive attitudes towards devoted citizenship and to strive for his / her country liberation and advancement
