Bachelor of Education in Upper Basic Level -Teaching Mathematics 

 

 

Learning Outcomes

 

Knowledge

Students are expected to be able to:

-        show deep knowledge of the basic areas of Mathematics, the basic techniques, and some applications of areas of Mathematics

-        show deep understanding of correct use of Mathematical language, inductive and deductive reasoning, mathematical thinking and logical approaches

-        deep knowledge of Mathematical proof techniques and pitfalls of some of these techniques and mathematical manipulations

-        demonstrate knowledge of key concepts in mathematics, in particular, proofs, analytical and computational skills

-        deep knowledge of the5. Knowledge of fundamental Theorems in Mathematics such as: Fundamental Theorems of Calculus

-        deep knowledge of the Fundamental Theorems of Arithmetic

-        deep knowledge of Fermat and Wilson Theorems Lagrange Theorem, Central Limit Theorem, Sylow Theorem, Limit Theorems,

-        deep knowledge of  Monotone Conversions Theorem, Theorems of continuity, differentiability, and integrals,  … .

-        deep knowledge of Methods of numerical calculations

-        knowledge of Statistical inference and the application of statistical methods in teaching and research

-        deep understanding of Application of Mathematics in other subject areas and in the real world such as modeling, problem based learning and some applications to other subjects

 

 

Skills (Intellectual and Practical)

Students are expected to be able to:

 

Intellectual

-        perform mathematical operations at a prescribed level of proficiency

-        integrate information technology in their learning of Mathematics

-        construct logical proofs, solutions and logical mathematical debates

-        present Mathematical arguments with accuracy and clarity in an adequate short time

-        select and conduct the appropriate methods for statistical analysis

-        develop logical algorithms to solve and approximate mathematical problems

-        write clearly a report using correct mathematical terminology and logic

-        make a model to solve real life problem

-        relate between the different concepts in Mathematics and to investigate and use the critical thinking skills for the purpose of problem solving

 

Practical

-        calculate, evaluate and to solve mathematical problems with accuracy and fluently in a short time as much as possible

-        use different mathematical computer software such as: SPSS, Mathlab, Mathematica, Visio, C++, and Microsoft office

 

 

Attitude

Students are expected to be able to:

 

-        write and to communicate mathematical presentations and proofs

-        analyze and to solve mathematical problems logically and creatively

-        use mathematics independently

-        transfer his/her information technology knowledge to a new one

-        develop the power of critical and analytical thinking among students and to encourage them to take initiatives

-        develop commitment to self-learning

-        work effectively within a team

-        attain confidence in proposing solutions to mathematical problems
