CHANGE OF MAJOR

a. When a Faculty admits a student, it is to a Major offered by the Faculty. The Faculty becomes responsible for the student until s/he (1) graduates; (2) is admitted as a transfer by another Faculty; (3) withdraws or is dismissed from the University.

b.Under certain conditions the student can change his/her Major. Acceptance into a new Major is made according to the approved acceptance guidelines for that Major. To change the major the student has to complete a Change of Major Form from the Registrar’s Office securing the approvals and signatures of both the previous and new Department Chairpersons and Deans. The completed form is filed in the Registrar’s Office.

c. Change of Major is made only during Registration for the Fall and Spring Semesters.  If all involved agree, arrangements can be made at pre-registration, but the decision must be based on the student's projected end-of-semester grade report and resultant status. In any case the Change of Major is effective only during Registration.

d.A student can change Major once before Acceptance to Major and once after Acceptance into a Major. An exception to this may be given to a student upon the recommendation of the Dean if the change of Major is needed to avoid a dismissal.
