Upon successful completion of the program, students will be able to:
Knowledge and understanding
highlight nursing as a unique profession through understanding the historical context, as well as critical reflection of contemporary nursing practice.
Identify appropriate professional nursing behavior in practice.
Appraise current theoretical practical perspectives.
Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of bio-psycho-social sciences and their critical application to the care of service users all through lifespan.
Recognize through application of assessment skills, the essential care needs of all client groups and demonstrate an ability to respond appropriately.
Enhance service quality for beneficiaries with complex health care needs, through employing appropriate assessment approaches, evaluating evidence base and effectiveness to plan and deliver appropriate care.
Evaluate legal and ethical frameworks applied to health and social care that critically assess their application to services delivered to beneficiaries.
Evaluate the impact of current health and social care policy on Services provided to beneficiaries through knowledge and understanding mechanisms adopted to generate policies.
Demonstrate principles of evidence based practice and research process, as well as their application to providing services to beneficiaries.
Utilize knowledge and understanding of individual and collective beliefs and cultural practices to promote equality, respect diversity and recognize and challenge discriminatory practice.
Realize public health data significance in developing responsive strategy and interventions.
Intellectual skills
Develop strategies to confidently ask appropriate questions and access contemporary evidence from a variety of sources.
Provide evidence through critical evaluation of problem solving and decision making, in support of care decisions.
Analyze complex health and social care scenarios in order to identify further required evidence.
Apply a range of intellectual skills to the critical analysis of an identified area of professional practice through independent study, concluding with new relevant insight.
Aware of various approaches to adult learning and study skills, and their application to learning situations.
Attitudes
Use appropriate communication skills to promote relationships that enhance health care in a variety of settings.
Use principles of scientific inquiry and professional processes, including problem solving, decision-making and critical thinking in providing healthcare.
Base practice on the fundamental nursing values of responsibility, accountability, advocacy human dignity and justice.
Partner with patients and members of the inter professional team to achieve optimal outcomes of care
Practice in the role of the licensed professional nurse.
Apply ethical analysis and clinical reasoning to assess, intervene and evaluate nursing care delivered.
