Program Learning Outcomes

Knowledge and Understanding:

  1. Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of subject matter and pedagogy. 

  2. Develop an in-depth understanding of the principles and concepts relating to early childhood development and learning, as well as leadership advocacy in matters relating to early childhood.  

  3. Become familiar with the child-centeredness philosophy and the Holistic Integrative Approach and all learning principles based on this philosophy and all related international acts concerned with child care and protection; such as the International Act of the Right of the Child.

  4. Acquire in-depth knowledge and understanding of the different teaching/learning strategies appropriate for all children in the early years. 

5.   Use effective assessment strategies in a responsive way to positively influence children’s         development and learning by designing, implementing and evaluating meaningful curriculum. 

6. Abide to the ethics of working with children in kindergarten and when conducting research with early years. 

Skills:

  1. Create environments that are healthy, respectful, supportive, and challenging for all children. 

  2. Employ and adopt reflective, creative and critical thinking skills in the planning, application and evaluation processes related to preschool children. 

  3. Create an environment that instills creativity in the child that centers him/her as an active learner. 

  4. Employ action research principles in the teaching/learning process relevant to preschool settings. 

  5. Plan units and lessons related to the child’s real life, taking the Palestinian curriculum into consideration. 

  6. Effectively use communication skills, utilize technology in education and prepare teaching/learning aids.

  7. Manage time effectively when working with preschool children. 

Attitudes/ Values:

  1. Understand and demonstrate respect for children's  individual needs

  2. Show positive attitudes towards the child as a human learner. 

  3. Show awareness of the demands and ethics of the teaching profession and its regulations.

  4. Appreciate the role and importance of the active learner in the teaching/learning process.

  5. Practice reflection to develop performance.

  6. Effectively collaborate with children, parents, preschool teachers and communities. 

  7. Show openness towards different education views and perspectives.

  8. Demonstrate dedication, accountability and responsibility towards the Palestinian society.
